All Aboard
by Wendy McNeill
on Such a Common Bird (2004)
All aboard this lord driven ford
Take me where you want to go
I could sit like this forever
In your belly at 110
Just like the princess and the pea
Something is messing with my sleep
Through the layers somethings calling
So I choose to speak my mind
Twist it all up into rhymes
Other times I take off driving
All aboard
I hear the ticking of a clock
Feel the cold rush of a gun cocked
Some are dying some are dancing
As I look around this world
I am the luckiest of girls
The wonder of it has me shaking
All aboard
My mother called me some kind of bird
Wish I could remember her exact words
Because she said it all so fondly
Now as I flip and as I flail
Tossing feathers in the air
I hear a voice say fly, fly
All aboard this lord driven ford
Take me where you want to go
I could sit like this forever
In your belly at 110
