Where Birds Sing My Name

November's Cold

by Twilight Fauna

on Where Birds Sing My Name (2018)

Shadows lengthen on cold autumn days
Those long November grays, how they hold on to me
Moments between dark and dawn
The sun that burns on willow trees
Gives way to dark amber days
And there you stand, head in hands
Fallen like the autumn leaves

This silence is mine
Winter air and shining leaves
The mountains hold me in place
I can feel your absence
The spring still flows
But softer than before

I can still feel you
In the tears that fall
In the rocking chair and quilt
In the bird's song
I will wait out the winter
In the valley and ridge
The terrain of my heart
