While The Moment's Good

by Thomas Sanders

on Ultimate Storytime (2016)

[Thomas:]
While the moment's good
You take what you can
Because the moment might not be so good for long
So you've got a tree
It might just be a tree
But if you only see a tree then you've got it wrong
You could be showing us who's not afraid
Or nestle underneath it's shade
And maybe it's not perfect, but it's here

So take a chance
The coast is clear

When it's ripe you've got to grab the fruit
Get it while you can
And the rest will follow suit
Maybe it's not paradise
But for the price you're getting
Its a deal, you'll have to
Knock on wood
You've got to grab the moment while the moment's good

(NICOLE):
(Spoken):
I don't think while the moments good is a thing. Also, I think you might be mixing your metaphors.

(THOMAS):
(Spoken):
I think you might be mixing me up with someone else, because... my metaphors are awesome!

(NICOLE):
(Spoken):
But the tree is the fruit?

(THOMAS):
(Spoken):
No, the moment is the fruit. The tree is the moment...
-Is the fruit.
Not important. The point is, well, for example:

(Sung):
Think about the bark
You climb the bark while you embark
So the bark therefore is sort of like the sea

(TERRENCE):
(Spoken):
Yeah, I hear it!

(Sung):
Take the shade
The shade can be an aid for you
When you want to unwind here on your own

(THOMAS):
It's like an eagle
An eagle who so regally takes you underneath it's wing and--

(NICOLE):
(Spoken):
I'm gonna stop you right there.

(THOMAS):
(Spoken):
Yeah, that was bad..

(NICOLE):
(Spoken):
Look, I appreciate the sentiment, but this tree is just not... interesting, to me.
I get it, it's some kind of magical palace for your bird-watching.

(TERRENCE):
(Spoken):
Birds can't afford palaces! Now who's not making any sense?

(NICOLE):
(Spoken)
Not the point..

(THOMAS)
(Spoken):
No, the point is:

(Sung):
It might be hard to understand
It might be slightly a little less grand
Than all the things you dreamed
That you would do
But it's just today
Embrace what's here in front of you
Getting there on the first try can be hard

(NICOLE & TERRENCE):
Stealing back and look for something right there in your yard
Take it in discrete steps
Pace yourself with easy street steps

(NICOLE):
Let yourself be less than you think you should

(THOMAS):
(Spoken:)
Nope, not what I meant,

You got to take the moment while the moments good

(NICOLE):
(Spoken):
Wait, what'd you just say?

(THOMAS):
If I could get a word in
Then I would say
That there's a way that
Both of you could find a common ground
While the moment's good
You can take this opportunity
To talk it out
So maybe you'll both come around

(TERRENCE):
Sorry for that thing I said

(NICOLE):
It's okay, let's hang out by this tree!

(NICOLE&TERRENCE):
Just you and me and then this other guy

(THOMAS):
I'm so glad
That I could help
Three, four!

(NICOLE & TERRENCE):
It might be just a lonely stage right elm

(NICOLE):
Or whatever it is

(TERRENCE):
But it could be a quiet spot to read--

(NICOLE):
Or something less silly like the helm
Of a pirate ship
Or a bridge

(NICOLE & TERRENCE):
That sits right up into the sky
It's a small dream
But it could be just as good
You got to grab the moment while the moment's good [x3]
