Speak Your Peace

Running Around

by Terry Callier

on Speak Your Peace (2002)

I heard the news just the other day
Bombs are falling in a land so far away, well
And there's a new chill in the midnight air
Say do you remember the children living there

Running around and around
Troubled minds just can't settle down
They go running around and around
Only to find a world turned upside down
This whole world turned upside down
Run run run, running around round round
Run run run, running around

Inner city blues, danger on the way
Dreams are lost and poets don't know what to say
Some with everything, some with not so much
Trying to help, but we're completely out of touch

They go running around and around
Troubled minds just can't settle down
Can't seem to settle down, no, no, no
They go running around and around
Only to find a world turned upside down
This whole world turned upside down
Run run run, running around round round
Run run run, running around

How will this all end? What are we thinking of?
How can peace exist when there's no room for love?
Let these people go, set those people free
Every living soul cries out for liberty

How will this all end? What are we thinking of?
How can peace exist when there's no room for love?
Let them people go, set my people free
Every living soul cries out for liberty

How will this all end? What are we thinking of?
How can peace exist when there's no room for love?
Take a lesson, learn it well
We can make it heaven, or we can make it hell
