Bluebells & Marigolds

by Redd Alexander

on Songs of Petrichor (2020)

[Intro]

[Verse 1]
I am a man, like many others
Whose always kept his druthers far away

Theres wind to chase, that dirty race
So I can't find the time to stay

But I'll be singin' all the way

[Chorus]
Oh sweet chariot, please swing low
Take me to a place to save my soul
The road up ahead, theres a place i know
Where the bluebells and marigolds grow

[Verse 2]
I've seen it all, seen bridges built and fall
Fell down, i've crawled a time or two

These hills are steep, with promises to keep
So sleep has to wait the night through

'cause I'm comin' home to you

[Chorus]
So oh sweet chariot, please swing low
Take me to a place to save my soul
The road up ahead, theres a place i know
Where the bluebells and marigolds grow

[Verse 3]
Theres hope I've found, she's laying in the ground
Outside of town behind a church

And as for me, I can guarantee
That there ain't a cloud in Bonaventure

Well that, I'm damn sure

[Chorus]
Oh sweet chariot, please swing low
Take me to a place to save my soul
The road up ahead, theres a place i know
Where the bluebells and marigolds grow

[Chorus]
Oh sweet chariot, please swing low
Take me to a place to save my soul
The road up ahead, theres a place i know
Where the bluebells and marigolds grow
