The Painter

Wildflower

by Paul Anka

on The Painter (1976)

Woke up today and looked up the holy mountain
Love the trees so much I'd stand there and count them
Took a walk by a little stream
Led on the back, began to dream
Put my business away in the drawer
And no disturbed on the door
What the hell is living for if you can't be happy

Wildflower, a flower in the sun
Wildflower, you make me feel so young

Freedom lies in local eyes each morning
The sun comes up and coffee cup with unwarning
Breathing in the air up here
Alone, stood up and began to cheer
The city sounds are gone
The mountains have their song
If I'm right there's nothing wrong
And I'm real' happy

Wildflower, a flower in the sun
Wildflower, you make me feel so young

Life is slow there's a rythem flow that's healthy
The citie's pace is an endless chase to be wealthy
A change can bring a piece of mine
A place that's sometimes hard to find
I don't need more than that
That's simply where it's at
Forever I can have my hat and just be happy

Wildflower, a flower in the sun
Wildflower, you make me feel so young
Wildflower, a flower in the sun
Wildflower, you make me feel so young
Wildflower, a flower in the sun
Wildflower, you make me feel so young
Wildflower, a flower in the sun
Wildflower, you make me feel so young
