The Bully's Tune

by Michael Card

on Close Your Eyes So You Can See (2001)

These are the clothes that you must wear
And this is how you cut your hair
You act just like we tell you to
You better give up and dance to the bully's tune

As he sings this simple stupid song
You better give up and go along
You look just like some sad cartoon
And set your life when you dance to the bully's tune

We played a song but you did not dance
We sang a dirge--this is your last chance
Do just what we tell you to
You better wise up, better dance to the bully's tune

The more you see you know it's true
The world will tell you what to do
But don't give in to the big bad boom
And don't give in, don't dance to the bully's tune

They'll play his song, but you won't dance
They'll sing his dirge, but there's not a chance
That you'll do what he tells you to
Cause you won't listen
No, you won't listen to the bully's tune
To the bully's tune

Don't listen to the bully's tune
Don't listen to the bully's tune
