My kid brother and I went for a walk
I told him, "We're not lost in these woods; we're exploring."
"If we get separated listen for my voice.
We will find each other in a clearing."

I let loose my grip; I was entranced by fairies
They feed me very well. The parties are wild
Hansel met a wood cutter with a heart in his hands
He was a kind man crying for a lost child

A house of gingerbread appeared before us separately
Overcome by hunger I was captured by the wicked woman
Ooh! She was ugly, she was strange. I feared she would eat me
So I crept up to push her in the oven.

But I stopped in horror when I realized
The wicked witch was looking at me with my brother's eyes
And Hansel staggered back and said,
"I thought you were a witch; I almost chopped you with an axe."

There was no witch you see
We had traveled differently
I did not recognize him
He forgot my voice
We thought that we were enemies

I looked at my dear brother
I felt shy and strange
I said to him, "Can we made a trade?"
"I will find us both beautiful, if you will do the same."

And the fairies and the woodcutter came into the clearing and they sang,
"Ahh ah aaah..."
