Tramps Like Us

Breakdown Lane

by Kacy Crowley

on Tramps Like Us (2004)

My Car broke down on Friday
I left it on the highway
Climbed steel divider
Tore my coat on some barbed wire
Landed in a graveyard
Each stone set a foot apart
I could hear the lonley sounds
These are the hazards baby of breaking down

These are the lessons
We need to walk right through
These are the smoke screens
We can hardly see through
Somethings will never change
Thats why there's a breakdown lane
That's why there's a break down lane

She ran away at 15
Swore she had a happy ending
Packed a plastic carry on
It's good to know those roads are long
She met a man in Florida
Turned her on to the comman horror
Now she just lays around
These are the hazards baby of breaking down

These are the lessons
We need to walk right through
These are the smoke screens
We can hardly see through
Somethings will never change
Thats why there's a breakdown lane
That's why there's a break down lane

When you find your engine stops
Oh you'll burn
Your tires pop
Mufflers drag
And breaks they shriek
Lady's curse
Old men beep
Put it over and walk away
This could be your lucky day
But there's never anyone around
These are the hazards baby or breaking down

These are the lessons
We need to walk right through
These are the smoke screens
We can hardly see through
Somethings will never change
Thats why there's a breakdown lane

In case your wondering
Just driving by thinking

That's why there's a break down lane
