Requesting 205 Most Influential Chinese Officials to Release Financial Information

by Hu Jia

Corruption is currently the most serious social problem in China, just as CPC Central Committee General Secretary Xi Jinping said on November 17 2012 at the political board, “The issue of corruption increases in it's negative impact, and ultimately ruining the country.” November 19, 2012, CPC Commission for Discipline Inspection Wang Qishan at the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Ministry of Supervision also stressed “unwavering opposition to corruption”.
However over the years, with a slogan-like, a sport-like approach to anti-corruption, the increasing issue of corruption is still unresolved. June 11th, 2010, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Ministry of Supervision issued a ruling regarding (government) officials' report on personal matters, stating that any income, real-estate and investment of (government related) individuals, spouses, and any children living together must be reported. However the above information was not be made public, and did not serve to resolved the issue of corruption.
