George Frideric Handel

As steals the morn

by George Frideric Handel

As steals the morn upon the night
And melts the shades away:
So Truth does Fancy's charm dissolve
And rising Reason puts to flight
The fumes that did the mind involve
Restoring intellectual day

The lyrics give fond hope that rationality, honesty, decency and indeed sanity will eventually prevail over the terrible mess in our current society. It should be played everyday. And of course, the music is beautiful beyond words.

Indeed! ...and that the forces of evil will melt away, or be forever vanquished by the forces of light and reason! ...hopefully without widespread annihilation of the innocent! My theory is that Persia never forgave the West for Thermopylae/Platea/Salamis....never could tolerate a world not under their dominion... just a theory......Handel is one of the blessings of the Western art, and is bound up with the undeniable sublime beauties of the Judeo-Christian legacies....
