Old Shoes

by Frankie Laine

on Columbia Sessions (1951-1955) (2018)

I see my old shoes dusty in the closet
And my thoughts run back to you
Not to long ago when those old shoes were new

I see those old shoes drying by a fire
Yours are there right next to mine
I still hear the rain and I still can taste the wine

And it's hard to believe but those old shoes used to fly
Away from the crowd to our own secret cloud in the sky
And though it's old news that our love has ended
How can I believe we're through
When those old shoes keep walking me right back to you

Musical interlude

And it's hard to believe but those old shoes used to fly
Away from the crowd to our own secret cloud in the sky
And though it's old news
That our love has ended
How can I believe we're through
When those old shoes keep
Walking me right back to you

I've been looking for this song for years. I heard it when I was a kid. Thanks.

Thank you SO much! My mom will be 81 years old next month and she has suffered from dementia for years. I was able to recall that she used to sing a song about old shoes and though I found songs with similar titles when I asked her to sing the song about the old shoes she was able to recall enough lyrics that I eventually found your website, and the RIGHT song! Thank you for the moment that you are about to provide for my mom And me because we are going to get to share a memory from the past, and because of this illness, that is something that rarely occurs anymore. I thank you in advance. God bless you!
