What's Born in the Basement

Ever Since

on What's Born in the Basement (2009)

Ever since I was a child
You know I'd lay down
I would just lay and
Dream of growing up in time
In time to realize what was mine
I never could have answered why
Just why I'd lay down
You know I'd lay and
Dream about the future I
Gave up since I became the child

A passive motion is my own part
The days go by
I just can't focus on what I've left
Or gained now since I'm with you
But tomorrow I'll be gone

You pull me back so I won't drift further away
The race I live through has full existence today

So bruised and dusty I keep walking there
Reminded that today is today though any day could be
Just wake that side of me

Ever since I was a child
You know I'd lay down
I would just lay and
Keep my dreams and hopes alive
And that I hope you'll see in time
I guess i'll never answer why
Just why I'd lay down
You know I'd lay and
Do what I was told each time
I guess it comes with being the child
